Parent & Community Engagement
At HJUHSD we value input from our students, parents, alumni, and our community. To that end, we provide a wide variety of ways in which you can engage with our district. The best way to engage is in person and we are always available to meet during regular business hours. Whether you walk in or make an appointment, an administrator or appropriate staff member will make the time to hear your needs or concerns. We also provide regularly scheduled events and meetings designed to get community input such as back to school events, Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meetings, State of the District, board meetings, and many more.
We take pride, as a district, in showing up for our schools—whether at athletic events, performances, or ceremonies—and we welcome the opportunity to connect with constituents at the these gatherings. Beyond our campuses, we remain actively engaged in community events, where we continue building relationships and staying connected with those we serve.
Of course, in today’s world of social media, perhaps the fastest way in which we gather input is from our social media platforms and posts. We are able to quickly assess when there is both positive feedback or expressed concerns and we are able to act on that information quickly. Please use the resources on this page to reach out to us and ensure your voice is heard.

The HJUHSD Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is open to all parents and community members. The semi-annual meeting is specifically designed to gather input on our district planning, budget, and LCAP goals. There is always an open ended component for stakeholders to request specific topics for upcoming meetings. Meeting dates are posted on the district calendar and sent via Parent Square.

Back to School Nights occur annually at each of our sites and allow parents and students to get to know their school and teachers. In addition valuable school and community resources are shared at these events. Check you school calendar for these dates. Back to School Nights take place in the first month of school each school year.

The HJUHSD State of the District Luncheon is an annual event in which we invite community leaders from our feeder districts, the city of Hanford, Kings County, and industry partners to learn about our Focus Areas and progress toward achieving stated metrics. In addition, it is an opportunity to garner input from those important community groups and leaders.

Parents are encouraged to join and participate in their respective student's School Site Council. These are available at each of our schools and allow parents to take an active role in school plans and expenditures.
