WASC ACCREDITATION

On October 25th and 26th, we had a WASC Visiting Committee virtually visit Hanford West to review the progress being made on the 7 Areas of Growth that were previously recommended. Officially we got word and received a letter from WASC (Western Association of Schools & Colleges) stating that we were given accreditation until June of 2024.

This means all of the work through the pandemic and since we returned to in-person learning, all of our work with MTSS, and building relationships. We are going to continue working hard on the areas of growth as identified below:

Growth Area 1: Build collaborative partnerships with feeder schools.

Growth Area 2: Develop and implement a RtI plan starting with 9th grade, that supports timely and specific intervention to increase student mastery of strands. Training and communication are necessary for the most effective use of the site-developed RtI model. (Increase curricular rigor in all areas.) (Ensure frequent assessments in all courses to inform instruction and intervention.

Growth Area 3: Integrate and align academic and career technical disciplines. (Increase curricular rigor in all areas.)

Growth Area 4: Grow and support courses that promote college and career readiness, such as A-G, pre-AP, and AP programs. (Increase curricular rigor in all areas.)

Growth Area 5: Train teachers in Illuminate to maximize the resource for assessment, analysis of data to drive decisions, and use the California dashboard for the most 5 ACS WASC Mid-cycle Visiting Committee Summary Report current data ab identification of intervention needs. (Increase curricular rigor in all areas.) (Ensure frequent assessments in all courses to inform instruction and intervention.)

Growth Area 6: Maintain and improve campus facilities that support safe and rich campus life.
