Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
The Advanced Placement (AP) program enables high school students to complete college-level courses and permits participating college to evaluate that accomplishment by granting credit and/or placement. Teachers must receive approval from the College Board to offer a course with the AP designation. AP exams are administered in the first two weeks of May. Most colleges award credits and/or placement for scores of 3, 4, or 5 on these exams. Please note that there is no designated pass/fail. Three to four units of college credit may be awarded per semester for each test. Credit and required scores vary by institution. HJUHSD offers AP courses in English, math, history-social science, science and Spanish. Students in AP classes are encouraged to take the AP exam and pay the test fee. The exam fee is $98 per exam. There are fee waivers available for eligible students, please see your site testing secretary in the main office for details.
