A-G Course Requirements: Your path to UC & CSU Eligibility

Planning for life after high school? If you’re considering attending a University of California (UC) or California State University (CSU) campus, meeting the A–G subject requirements is an important step. These courses are designed to prepare students for the rigors of college and ensure a strong academic foundation.

The A–G requirements include:

To meet UC and CSU eligibility, students must complete these courses with a grade of C or better. Choosing additional courses in key areas, like math and science, can strengthen your college application and expand your future opportunities.

However, not every student’s path leads to a UC or CSU. That’s perfectly okay! There are many fulfilling options for post-high school success, including community colleges, trade schools, apprenticeships, and entering the workforce. Your educational journey is unique, and our counselors are here to help you craft a personalized plan that fits your goals and aspirations—whether or not they include UC or CSU admissions. You don’t need to worry about tracking A–G courses if your plans don’t include attending a UC or CSU—focus instead on courses that align with your personal goals and career interests.

Remember, education is about discovering what excites you and preparing for the future you want. Talk to your counselor, explore your interests, and make choices that align with your dreams! Remember to also keep track of HJUHSD graduation requirements, you can read about them here.
