Dental Assistant 2a: Infection Prevention & Pharmacology

Course Description:

In this course, you will continue to explore the field of dentistry through a work-based learning experience while studying how to maintain a safe environment for patients. You’ll cover prevention, recognition, and management of common dental office emergencies and how to manage patient pain and medications. You’ll learn about microbiology and the modes of disease related to oral care as well as explore specialties in the dental field important responsibilities and guidelines for providers. This is a semester course.

CTE Legend:

Introductory Courses: These are typically the first or second classes in a Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway. While not mandatory, they are recommended to help students get started.
Concentrator Courses: The next step in the pathway, this course is required before taking the final (capstone) course. Completing this sequence is necessary to be recognized as a CTE completer.
Capstone Courses: The final class(es) in the pathway. To be a CTE completer, students must take both the concentrator and capstone courses. Students who complete a CTE Pathway will be awarded with a graduation cord.
