Allied Health Assistant 1a: Introduction

Course Description:

If you’re planning on going into the healthcare field, then this course is for you! Explore your options by learning how to properly care for your patients and provide for the administrative needs of healthcare. Learn to prepare exam rooms, schedule, bill, and document all while solidifying your professional skills in communication, privacy, safety, and ethics. This is a semester course.

Students must have passed Health Science Theory 1b as a prerequisite.

History/Social Science (World History, U.S. History, Government & Economics, or equivalents): 30 units

Visual & Performing Arts / Career Technical Education / Language Other Than English: 20 units
Physical Education (required for 9th and 10th grade): 20 units

Allied Health Assistant pathway

CTE Legend:

Introductory Courses: These are typically the first or second classes in a Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway. While not mandatory, they are recommended to help students get started.
Concentrator Courses: The next step in the pathway, this course is required before taking the final (capstone) course. Completing this sequence is necessary to be recognized as a CTE completer.
Capstone Courses: The final class(es) in the pathway. To be a CTE completer, students must take both the concentrator and capstone courses. Students who complete a CTE Pathway will be awarded with a graduation cord.
